LACROSSE - Intramurals

Rules

Playing Standard Lacrosse rules with the following modifications, and rule emphasis:

1. 2 twenty minute halves (running clock) – LAST 1 minute of each half, clock stops for out of bounds – goals – penalties.

2. Mandatory face–off for start of each half. Face off after each goal UNLESS either team is down by 4 or more goals – they then get an automatic clear at midfield.

3. All substitutions are on the fly (no stoppage of play for substitutions)

4. Shots – whichever team is closest to the point WHERE and WHEN the ball goes out of bounds, gains possession of the ball. All other non-shots that go out of bounds; last team to touch loses possession.

5. Offsides – minimum of 4 players must stay on defensive side of field   minimum of 3 players must stay on offensive side of field

 6. All body contact is initiated in front of opponent – no body contact from behind.(subject to ejection by official)

7. All stick checks in controlled manner, stick on stick with an attempt to dislodge the ball.

8. All contact, stick and body, will be made below the head, and above the waist (subject to ejection by official)

9. NO CROSS CHECKING – ejection by official

10. Penalties – there is no penalty box – If a penalty is called, the attacking team will be given the ball at the midfield line, for a 4 vs 3 fast break opportunity. Once the ball handler or ball reaches 10 or more yds from midfield, the remaining players can resume normal play.

11. EJECTIONS / SAFETY  - If an official ejects a player from the game for a flagrant hit, or for verbally abusive language, that player is out for the rest of the game AND the following game. The ejected player’s team will play a man down for the remainder of that specific game – Officials and supervisors will record the name of the ejected player and submit to PE. Dept. Tie breaker – if game ends in a tie, “braveheart” rules apply – one goalie per team and one field player per team – face off at midfield – first to score wins    NOTE _ goalie will remain in crease at all times during BRAVEHEART – NO SUBSTITUTIONS !!!
