The Pipes and Drums will establish a military pipe band as a component of the Brigade of Midshipmen. The Pipes and Drums will consist of bagpipers, highland drummers and highland dancers.
The primary mission of this pipe band is to field a performing band capable of providing highland musical support to the evolutions of the Brigade of Midshipmen, as well as the activities of the larger academy community (alumni and parents clubs), both on and off the Yard.
In addition to providing a performing band, this BSA will provide interested Midshipmen with musical instruction in bagpiping, highland drumming (snare, tenor and bass), and highland dancing.
Lastly, the band will serve as representatives of the Brigade at activities off the Yard. In this secondary capacity, the Pipes and Drums support both the Academy's public relations and recruiting efforts. This support will be in the form of performances by either the full band, portions thereof, or solo bagpipers.
