USNA | Asst Professor Nikolaos Biziouras

Nikolaos Biziouras is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Political Science at the United States Naval Academy. Prior to coming to the Naval Academy, he was Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the International Security and Intra-State Conflict Programs of the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, John F. Kennedy School of Government, at Harvard University. He received his BA in Political Economy and Rhetoric and his MA and PhD in Political Science, all from the University of California at Berkeley. His dissertation research dealt with the economic foundations of violent ethnic conflict. His current research focuses on the political economy of collective action in a variety of different policy arenas and in different regions of the world. He has published on the political economy of foreign direct investment in Asia and on the politics of post-communist transitions. In terms of regional interests, he has worked on Eastern Europe, South and Southeast Asia and the Horn of Africa. In terms of subfield specialization, he works on the intersection of comparative politics and international relations.
