Posted on: October 08, 2013 08:00 EDT by Sarah Durkin

The USNA STEM Office hosted a Mini-STEM event as part of the USNA Alumni Association and Foundation's President's Circle Weekend on Thursday, October 3, 2013. This engaging event was open to President's Circle parents and grandparents of past and present midshipmen.

While visiting the lab spaces in Rickover Hall, President's Circle guests were able to experience the STEM Outreach program firsthand, illustrating how the Naval Academy introduces middle and high school age students to exciting technical academic disciplines with hands-on experiences.

Guests had a great time trying different STEM activities including operating SeaPerch underwater remote operated vehicles, exploring renewable energy sources, building and firing straw rockets, as well as being introduced to the new cyber security program and biometrics lab.  8 midshipmen participated as the subject matter experts and tour guides, and had a great time showcasing the excellent resources at USNA.
