Subj: ICSAT EXPERIMENT REQUIREMENTS
1. Transmit and receive data and command files at 1 Mbps using TCP/IP.
ICSat-generated files passed to principal investigator via internet.
2. Data Transfer
50MB download during normal pass operations.
Transfer rate of 1Mbps
Bit-error rate < 1 in 104
3. MidSTAR must provide acceptable orbit and operational lifetime for mission
Altitude at Apogee: 300-700km.
Altitude at Perigee: 300-700km.
Inclination: >40°; optimum inclination of 49°.
Desired Life: 1 year.
4. Mission Success
100%-Successful transfer of data/command files at 1Mbps with TCP/IP using experimental Communications Block.
75% - Successful transfer of data/command files with TCP/IP using satellites communication link.
50% - Delivery of flight-ready midshipman designed and constructed experiment package to the spacecraft integrator.
