Subj:    ICSAT EXPERIMENT REQUIREMENTS

 

1.      Transmit and receive data and command files at 1 Mbps using TCP/IP.

•         ICSat-generated files passed to principal investigator via internet.

2.      Data Transfer

•         50MB download during normal pass operations.

•         Transfer rate of 1Mbps

•         Bit-error rate < 1 in 104

3.      MidSTAR must provide acceptable orbit and operational lifetime for mission

•         Altitude at Apogee:       300-700km.

•         Altitude at Perigee:        300-700km.

•         Inclination:                    >40°; optimum inclination of 49°.

•         Desired Life:                 1 year.

4.      Mission Success

•         100%-Successful transfer of data/command files at 1Mbps with TCP/IP using experimental Communications Block.

•         75% - Successful transfer of data/command files with TCP/IP using satellite’s communication link.

•         50% - Delivery of flight-ready midshipman designed and constructed experiment package to the spacecraft integrator.
