Mass Calculations

Mass of Batteries

Each Sanyo Cadnica cell has a mass of 145 g. Each battery of 56 cells will have a mass of approximately 8.1 kg. This will give a total battery cell mass of 16.2 kg.

Mass of Battery Box Structure:

We currently plan on using 1/8 inch thick aluminum for the battery box structure. The dimensions of each box is 12" x 12" x 4" and has a total Al structure mass of 2.7 kg per box.

Mass of other Electronics:

The mass of the diodes and wires is very small and has not yet been determined. Additionally, the distributor, voltage regulator, and fuses to be used have not been determined. The mass of the distributors under consideration is 55 g with there being 10 of those. We are anticipating the voltage regulator to weigh less 0.5 kg, but have no exact figures as of the present.
