Information Technology Education
Conduct feasibility study to support
new academic technology division
Initiative Description:
- Substantially increase the number of USNA graduates each year with significant expertise in Information Technology (IT); achieve by graduating class of 2010
- Applicable academic programs include Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, and potential new programs in Information Systems and/or Information Technology
- Integrate and co-locate academic disciplines contributing significantly to this goal
- Develop next generation Knowledge-Centric Warfare laboratory
- Include military construction of new academic building to house these activities
Expected Outcome/Benefit:
- Satisfy current and urgent Navy and Marine Corps need for officers having significant expertise in Information Technology
- Expand cadre of naval officers who will develop and lead employment of knowledge-centric naval forces
