The Navy’s nuclear powered deep submergence submarine NR-1 will moor
at USNA. Everyone
is encouraged head over and visit (tour schedules will be
promulgated separately).
Features Include:
- Displays and briefings on recent submarine missions conducted
by several junior officers from Norfolk, VA. The briefings and
NR-1 tours for midshipmen will be given at the Secret level.
- ENS William Howey (‘04), currently in prototype training, will
also be available to answer midshipmen questions. He is a great
source of information on current life at nuclear power school and
prototype.

Come out and talk to junior officers
about submarine life. This is a valuable chance to ask candid
questions and to get the “real” scoop about what it is like to be a
junior officer aboard a submarine: What are the schedules like? How
often do you deploy and where to? What is it like in Nuclear Power
School or Prototype?
