Ben Grant, Max Murray, Lee MacDowell, and Ken Meeks presented a recital called the "Bassfest" and closed with a piece featuring 14 bass players.

CDR Ralph M. Gambone and MUCM Ralph F. Gambone, USN, (RET)
MUCM Ralph F. Gambone served in the band from 1948-1972 as a trumpet and clarinet instrumentalist, arranger, conductor, operations chief and finally, as the leading chief
before transferring to and eventually retiring from The U.S. Navy Band, Washington, DC.

CDR Gambone was a member of the Naval Academy Band from 1969-1974, performing as a clarinet instrumentalist before transferring to the fleet, entering the officer ranks, and
eventually returning as Leader. He went on to lead The U.S. Navy Band.
