December 8, 1972 - LCDR Muffley swears in the Navy's first official female instrumentalist,
Heide R. Hunter of Reisterstown, MD. The soon to be MU2 Hunter, a guitarist assigned to the Naval Academy Band, enlisted under a special program designed to attract women instrumentalists into the Navy Music Program.
