Trumpeter, Naval Academy Band

Chief Musician Geoffrey Bayne is a native of Seattle, Washington. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University in 1988.

Chief Bayne entered the Navy in 1988 and served with Navy Band San Diego, then transferred to Navy Band Seattle in 1993. In 1999, he was accepted by the United States Naval Academy Band as a trumpet instrumentalist. Chief Bayne performs in Concert Band, The Next Wave, ceremonial and marching bands. He also leads the Midshipman big band, Trident Brass. In addition to his musical duties he is in charge of the band Supply Department.

His military awards include the Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, National Defense Service Medal (two Awards), the Navy Good Conduct Medal (five awards), and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.

Chief Bayne has played with numerous big bands, salsa bands, brass quintets, and orchestras in the San Diego, Seattle, and Annapolis areas.
