First Class Petty Officer Benjamin A. Bokor, USN
Saxophonist, Naval Academy Band

Musician First Class Benjamin Bokor joined the Naval Academy Band saxophone section in April 2008. A native of Chicago, Illinois, MU1 Bokor graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in music in 2000, where he studied clarinet with Leslie Grimm. While at Northwestern, MU1 Bokor spent summers playing in the All-American College Band at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Paris. After graduating, MU1 Bokor spent three years as a high school band director in New Jersey and Chicago.

Prior to joining the band, MU1 Bokor was a member of the U.S. Army Field Band for five years. There he performed on clarinet and saxophone with the concert band, and was a featured jazz soloist and clinician.

In 2004, MU1 Bokor won third place at the North American Saxophone Alliance’s jazz saxophone competition. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in music from the University of Maryland. In addition to his military duties, MU1 Bokor enjoys playing as a woodwind artist in musical productions in the Washington, DC, area. He also has his own jazz quartet and is a member of the Old Line Saxophone Quartet.

MU1 Bokor's military awards include the Army Achievement Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Navy Rifleman Sharpshooter Ribbon, and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon.
