First Class Petty Officer J. Jason Broadwater, USN
Musician First Class J. Jason Broadwater hails from St. Clairsville, OH, and graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1999. Upon graduating, he attended West Virginia University, where he earned his bachelor of music degree in visual and performing arts in 2004. In 2004, Musician First Class Broadwater enlisted in the Navy and reported to the Navy School of Music in Little Creek, VA. Upon completion of Musician "A" school, he was assigned to Navy Band New Orleans (NOLA) where he performed as a tuba instrumentalist. Shortly after reporting to Navy Band NOLA, he volunteered to be the audio engineer for the rock ensemble "Express." He then reported back to the Navy School of Music to enroll in the Sound Reinforcement Course. Petty Officer Broadwater was selected for duty with the United States Naval Academy Band in 2007. Petty Officer Broadwater's awards include the National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal. In his spare time, MU1 Broadwater enjoys motorcycling, camping, traveling, and is a car enthusiast.
