Class Petty Officer Sheila C. Buck, USN
Musician First Class Sheila C. Buck, a native of Marietta, GA, graduated from Alan C. Pope High School in 1998. While in high school she performed as principal clarinetist with the Atlanta Symphony Youth Orchestra and Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony. Petty Officer Buck then attended Indiana University, where she studied clarinet with James Campbell, earning a bachelor of music degree in clarinet performance in 2002 and a master of music degree in music theory in 2004. Prior to joining the Naval Academy Band, Petty Officer Buck performed with the Owensboro (KY) Symphony, and served as clarinet faculty at Clemson University. Living in Atlanta, GA, she also taught private students at the Atlanta Music Academy, Lassiter Music Institute, Kennesaw Mountain High School, Pope High School, and Classic Winds. In June
2006, Petty Officer Buck enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported to the
United States Naval Academy Band. She performs as a clarinetist with the
Concert Band, as well as marching and ceremonial units. Her military awards
include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service
