Class Petty Officer Samuel D. Chin, USN
Musician First Class Samuel Chin, a clarinet instrumentalist, is a native of Ann Arbor, Michigan and graduated from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School in 1998. He earned a bachelor of music degree in clarinet performance from the University of Michigan in 2002, performing in the Symphonic Band and the Philharmonic Orchestra. He earned a master's degree in clarinet performance from the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2005. His teachers include Douglas Cornelson, Deborah Chodacki, and Daniel Gilbert. Petty Officer Chin
enlisted in the Navy in 2005. He performs with the concert, ceremonial,
and marching bands. His military awards include the National Defense Service
Medal and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
