Doyle
R. Church
Chief Warrant Officer Doyle R. Church enlisted in the Navy as a musician in February 1964. After graduation from musician "A" School, he served tours of duty with COMNAVAIRPAC aboard USS Bennington (CVS-20) and USS Kitty Hawk (CVA-63). Subsequent tours included SIXTH Naval District Band, Charleston, SC; CONCPACFLT Band, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; and COMPHIBLANT Band, Little Creek, VA. He is a graduate of the Navy's Assistant Bandleader Course, and served with Navy Band San Francisco as a trombone instrumentalist and Unit Leader. Prior to his appointment to Chief Warrant Officer on 1 April 1979, Mr. Church served as the supply and fiscal assistant to the Head of the Music Branch in the Bureau of Naval Personnel, Washington, DC. He reported to the Naval Academy as Assistant leader of the band in April 1979. He organized the U. S. Naval Academy Showband and was its first leader. Mr. Church served as the Naval Academy Band's third leader and Public Affairs Officer.
