Max Corrick
Lieutenant Commander, U.S. NAVY

Lieutenant Commander Max Corrick, was born in Boone, Iowa in 1919 and began his music study at the age of ten under the supervision of his father. During high school he was active in band and orchestra work and served as student assistant to the director during his junior and senior years. After completing two years at Boone Junior College he enlisted in the Navy in 1939 and graduated from the Basic Course, U.S. Naval School at Music in 1940. He served as instrumentalist and assistant leader in a Navy Unit Band in the Pacific area until 1943. At that time he was advanced to Chief Musician and served as Leader of a Unit Band until 1945. He reported to the U.S. Naval School of Music in April 1945 and was immediately assigned to the staff where he performed duty as Instructor and Administrative Assistant.

Advanced to Warrant rank in 1951, Mr. Corrick was assigned as Department Head and Instructor, U.S. Naval School of Music, until his transfer to the U.S. Naval Academy in December 1954. He was appointed Leader, U.S. Naval Academy Band in April 1955 and was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in October 1957. In March 1958 Lieutenant Commander Corrick was honored by election to the American Bandmasters' Association at the annual convention held at the University of Illinois.

Mr. Corrick died in December of 1965 while Leader of the Band. He is buried in the Naval Academy cemetery.
