Chief Petty Officer Blake C. Cramer, USN
Percussionist / Pianist, Naval Academy Band

Chief Musician Blake Cramer is a native of Davidsonville, MD and a 1980 graduate of South River High School in Edgewater, MD. He attended St. Mary's College and subsequently the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, where he studied with renowned jazz vibraphonist Gary Burton. In 1985 he received his bachelor of arts degree in professional music, graduating magna cum laude.

Chief Cramer joined the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 1992. In addition to performing on the entire spectrum of percussion instruments, he also serves as pianist for the Concert Band, jazz ensemble, and in 2001 he was appointed pianist for the Superintendent of the Naval Academy, providing exclusive musical support for functions honoring visiting dignitaries and VIP's. He has served as Leading Petty Officer for the Concert Band, minor property Petty Officer, and as both a member and chairman of the Morale, Welfare and Recreation committee. He is currently the band's Educational Services Officer.

Chief Cramer wears the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (four awards), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards); National Defense Service Medal (two awards), and the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal.
