Chief Petty Officer Sergio R. Dacol, USN
Bassoonist, Naval Academy Band

Chief Musician Sergio Dacol attended high school at Liceo Juan Ramon Jimenez in Colombia and studied at the National Conservatory of Music in Bogota, Colombia. In 1988 he received a full scholarship to Southern Methodist University and was awarded a Bachelor of Music in Bassoon Performance in 1992. His extensive orchestral experience includes performances with the Dallas Wind Symphony, the National Band of Colombia, the National Symphony Orchestra of Colombia and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

Chief Dacol enlisted in the Navy in April of 1993 and after graduating first in his class from the School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia, he reported for duty as bassoonist in the Pacific Fleet Band in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. In 1997 Sergio was selected as bassoonist for the United States Naval Academy Band. In addition to his performances with the concert band, he performs with the woodwind quintet, ceremonial and marching units. He also works as Equipment Manager in the Supply Department.

Chief Dacol's military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
