Class Petty Officer Lynda J. Dembowski, USN
Musician First Class Lynda Dembowski is a native of Waynesboro, Virginia. Petty Officer Dembowski attended James Madison University, earning a bachelor of music education in 1991 and a master of music in 1997. She also earned an Artist Diploma from Duquesne University in 1999. Petty Officer Dembowski was an instrumental music director for Augusta County, Virginia public schools from 1991 1995, teaching middle and high school bands. She served on the faculty at City Music Center at Duquesne University, a preparatory school for aspiring young musicians. Petty Officer Dembowski has performed with the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Westmoreland Symphony, American Sinfonietta Orchestra, and the Divertimento Wind Quintet. She has played with Al Jarreau, Arturo Sandoval, and Bruce Hornsby, and is also a charter member of the Shenandoah Valley Bach Festival Orchestra. Petty Officer Dembowski joined the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 1999, performing in the concert, ceremonial and marching bands as well as the chamber winds. She won the position of Principal Clarinetist in 2003. Currently she is an active recitalist and is pursuing a doctor of musical arts at the University of Maryland, studying with Loren Kitt. military awards include the Navy Good Conduct Award, National Defense
