Class Petty Officer John B. Duley, USN
MU1 John B. Duley, a native of Annapolis, Maryland, attended Annapolis High School where he was an active participant in the music program. In addition to the school band, he studied drums privately with Naval Academy Band alumni Mike Sheppard, Dick Bonefant, and Don Plowman, played in local amateur rock bands, and was selected for All-State Band. Petty Officer Duley joined the Navy in July of 1992 and, after Recruit Training and Musician "A" School, was assigned to Navy Band Great Lakes where he performed as drummer and vocalist for their rock band and jazz ensemble, as well as ceremonies and weekly Recruit Graduations. In 1996 he reported to Navy Band Jacksonville where he played and sang with their showband, "Liberty," touring the Southeast and Carribean. Petty Officer Duley was accepted to the United States Naval Academy Band in 1998. He serves as drummer, vocalist, and Leading Petty Officer in the Navy's premier contemporary music ensemble, "The Electric Brigade" and duty combos, as well as performing in ceremonial and marching units. MU1 Duley's awards include the Navy Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), the National Defense Service Medal, and Navy Expert Pistol Marksman's Medal.
