Chief Petty Officer Dawn M. Henry, USN
Chief Musician Dawn M. Henry is a native of Quarryville, Pennsylvania and a 1992 graduate of Solanco High School. She attended The University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music, and studied clarinet with Ronald DeKant and Ron Aufmann. After graduating in 1996 with a bachelor’s degree in music performance, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University, where she studied with Dr. Charles West and completed a master’s degree in music performance in 1998. MUC Henry has performed with the Susquehanna Winds, Northern Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, Prince William Symphony Orchestra, Little River Symphony, Manassas Dance Company, Prince William Chamber Players, Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia, and the American Symphonic Winds. She has been featured as a soloist with the Prince William Symphony Orchestra. MUC Henry began her military career in 1998 as a clarinetist in the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C. While assigned there, she performed with the orchestra, concert band, marching band, and ceremonial units. Additionally she served as Concertmaster and soloist with the concert band. In 2003, MUC Henry auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band. After attending Veterans’ training at Great Lakes, she reported to Annapolis where she currently performs with the concert band, marching band, clarinet quartet and ceremonial units. For her collateral duties, she serves as Information Technology (IT) Manager, Inventory Manager, and woodwind section leader of the concert band. MUC Henry has been awarded the Air Force Commendation Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, Navy Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Air Force Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal.
