Petty Officer Amy K. Jarjoura, USN
Chief Musician Amy K. Jarjoura, a native of Green Bay, Wisconsin, became involved in music at an early age. She attended Lassiter High School in Marietta, Georgia and studied with Laura Ardan, principal clarinetist with the Atlanta Symphony. In 1985-1986 she was principal clarinetist with the Atlanta Youth Symphony. Chief Jarjoura earned her Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance from the North Carolina School of the Arts in 1990. While working on her undergraduate degree, she studied with Robert Listokin and performed in the Winston-Salem Symphony, Salisbury Symphony, Hickory Orchestra and the Asheville Symphony. After completing her education, Chief Jarjoura relocated to Arlington, Texas where she taught private clarinet studies extensively in the Arlington Independent School System. During that time, she studied with Andy Crisanti, Principal Clarinetist of the Ft. Worth Symphony and performed in area orchestras. In October 1992, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and reported to the United States Naval Academy Band. She performs as a clarinetist with the concert band, ceremonial and marching bands. Chief Jarjoura is the coordinator for the Naval Academy Bands Chamber Music Recital Series, Administration Assistant, member of the Morale, Welfare, and Recreation Committee, and Pay/Personnel Administrative Support System Liaison Representative. Her military awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Good Conduct Medal (three awards), National Defense Service Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal. She was named Sailor of the Quarter in 2003 and is currently the USNA Bands Sailor of the Year for 2004.
