Musician First
Class Jessica R. Privler, USN
A native of Sterling, Virginia, Musician First Class Jessica Privler graduated from Louisiana State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in 2002, and a Master of Music degree in 2003. She also attended Boston University. Her teachers include Seth Orgel, Eric Ruske, and Edwin Thayer. MU1 Privler has been a member of the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra and the National Repertory Orchestra. She has performed with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, and the Maryland Symphony. MU1 Privler began her military service in 1995 as a staff sergeant with the Army Field Band. She performed concerts and clinics with the concert band and brass quintet until 2000. In 2005, MU1 Privler auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band. Following Veterans’ training at Great Lakes, she reported for duty in 2006 as horn player with the concert band, marching band, brass quintet, and ceremonial units. She also works in the band’s public affairs office, and as ceremonial band Leading Petty Officer.
