Lieutenant Junior
Grade Robert "Jeff" Wrenn hails from Calabash, North Carolina
where he entered Naval service in October of 1988. After completing Musician
"A" School, Armed Forces School of Music, Little Creek, VA,
he was assigned as a saxophone and clarinet instrumentalist with CINCSOUTH
Band in Naples, Italy. While there, he also served as guitarist, vocalist,
and Supply/Fiscal Petty Officer and traveled throughout Europe with the
rock band and show band.
His next assignment was with Navy Band New Orleans where he performed
with the rock band and continued to serve as Supply/Fiscal Petty Officer.
In June of 1995, he transferred to SEVENTH Fleet Band in Yokosuka, Japan.
There he toured throughout Western Pacific region, served as Operations
Coordinator, and was promoted to Chief Petty Officer in September of 1999.
His deployments included: CARAT 1996 and 2000 onboard the USS GEORGE PHILIP
(FFG 12) and USS GERMANTOWN (LSD 42); and Southern Swing 1997 and 1998
onboard the USS BLUE RIDGE (LCC 19). Prior to his commissioning on September
1, 2002, he was assigned to the Atlantic Fleet Band where he served as
Chief-in-Charge of Ceremonial Bands.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Wrenn is also a graduate of the School of Music's
Section Leader Course, Ceremonial Conductor/Drum Major Course, and Assistant
Director Course; he also holds Bachelor Degrees in Music and Business
Administration. During sixteen years of Naval service, LTJG Wrenn has
been awarded the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation
Medal (three awards), Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards),
Meritorious Unit Commendation, Good Conduct Medal (four awards), National
Defense Service Medal (two awards), Sea Service Deployment ribbon (five
awards), and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service ribbon (seven
awards).
