Senior Chief Musician Ray Ascione is a native of Annapolis, MD. He holds a bachelor’s degree in music performance and a master’s degree in human resource development from Towson State University.

MUCS Ascione enlisted in the Navy in 1989. After completing recruit training at RTC Great Lakes, he attended and graduated Navy Music Basic “A” Course, Little Creek, VA. In 1990, he auditioned and was accepted for duty with the U. S. Naval Academy Band as a member of the wind ensemble, marching band, and ceremonial units. Currently, he is assigned as Operations Division Chief for the band. His past collateral duties include Chief in Charge (CIC) of Marching and Ceremonial Units, and Command Fitness Leader.

MUCS Ascione has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3 awards), Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation (2 awards), Navy Good Conduct (6 awards), National Defense Service Medal (2 awards), and the Global War On Terrorism Service Medal.
