Sound Engineer

Musician First Class Jason Broadwater hails from St. Clairsville, Ohio, and graduated from St. Clairsville High School in 1999. After graduation, he attended West Virginia University, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in visual and performing arts in 2004.

In 2004, MU1 Broadwater enlisted in the Navy and reported to the Navy School of Music in Little Creek, Virginia. Upon completion of Musician "A" School, he was assigned to Navy Band New Orleans where he performed on tuba. Shortly after reporting to Navy Band New Orleans, he volunteered to be the audio engineer for the rock ensemble, "Express." He then reported back to the Navy School of Music to enroll in the Sound Reinforcement Course.

MU1 Broadwater auditioned and was selected for duty as Audio Engineer with the U.S. Naval Academy Band in 2007. He serves as the Audio Engineer for The Electric Brigade and as tuba player with the marching band. MU1 Broadwater is the band’s Minor Property Manager and Audio Archive Manager.

MU1 Broadwater has been awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), Navy Good Conduct Medal (3 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Navy Expert Pistol Shot Medal.
