Ensign Patrick J. Hill is a native of Chillicothe, IL and holds a Bachelor of Science in Music from Illinois State University in Normal, IL. He enlisted in the Navy Reserves in 1994 and served as a Boatswain’s Mate onboard USS SAMUEL ELIOT MORISON (FFG-13) based in Mayport, FL and Assault Craft Unit ONE in Coronado, CA.

In 1998, Ensign Hill reported to the School of Music in Virginia Beach, VA for training to become a Navy Musician. He has served as a French Horn Instrumentalist at Navy Band Southeast in Jacksonville, FL, Navy Band Northeast in Newport, RI, and the U.S. Fleet Forces Band in Norfolk, VA. He is a graduate of the Basic Music Course, Unit Leader Course, and Senior Musician Course at the School of Music.

In his most recent assignment as an Advanced Academics Instructor at the School of Music, he taught Music Theory, Counterpoint, Form & Analysis, Unit Logistics, and Band Administration. There, he earned the Master Training Specialist designation and is a qualified MTS Mentor.

Ensign Hill’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (4 awards), and the Naval Reserve Meritorious Service Medal.

He is married to the former Jeana Atwood of Danville, IL. They have four children and reside in Arnold, MD.
