Musician First Class Clint Woltering was born and raised in Cincinnati, OH, and moved to Richmond, KY, during high school. He graduated from Madison Central High School in 2000, and received a bachelor’s degree in music education from the University of Kentucky in 2004. Prior to his appointment to the Naval Academy Band, he was pursuing a Master of Music degree from Indiana University where he was the graduate assistant to the brass department and studio assistant to his professor, Carl Lenthe. He has also studied with Joseph Alessi, Pete Ellefson, Tom Brantley, Scott Hartman, James Markey, Ron Barron, Charlie Vernon, John Rojak, and Mark Clodfelter.

MU1 Woltering has performed with the Washington National Opera, Baltimore Opera, Richmond (IN) Symphony, Columbus Indiana Philharmonic, and the Evansville Philharmonic. He was a founding member of the MOMUS Trombone Quartet, which was a finalist in the 2002 International Trombone Association Quartet Competition, and released a CD that same year entitled, “The Lexingport Project.” He has also been a member of the Victory Brass Quintet and the Washington Trombone Ensemble.

In 2006, MU1 Woltering auditioned and was selected for assignment to the U.S. Naval Academy Band. Following recruit training at RTC, Great Lakes, he reported for duty as trombonist with the concert band, jazz ensemble, brass quintet, brass ensemble, marching band, and ceremonial units. As a member of the concert band, he frequently has been a featured soloist on both tenor and bass trombone. His collateral duties include serving as an assistant in the Public Affairs Office, Leading Petty Officer of Brass Quintet "Gold", and as a member of the enlisted conducting staff.

MU1 Woltering has been awarded the Navy Good Conduct Medal (2 awards), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the Navy Pistol Marksmanship Ribbon.
