THE
UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY CEREMONIAL BAND
The Naval Academy Band has two 18 piece units, "Ceremonial Blue," led by Chief Musician Tony Valerio and "Ceremonial Gold," led by Chief Musician Adam Tillet, whose sole function is to help create an atmosphere of pageantry and patriotism at official functions. Just in the past few years, Naval Academy Band has provided music for several very high visibility events, including the commissioning if the USS Donald Cook, the turning around and homecoming of the USS Constellation, the 100th anniversary of the bombing of the USS Maine, and the dedication of Maryland's World War II memorial. We have also appeared at such diverse programs as the retirement of Admiral March, Commanding Officer of the Naval Space Command, bill signings at the Maryland State House, the opening ceremonies of the World Cup Soccer Tournament and All-Star Baseball game, the funeral of Admiral Elmo Zumwalt, former Chief of Naval Operations, police academy graduations for Anne Arundel County and the State of Maryland, and numerous Change of Command and retirement ceremonies in Virginia, Maryland, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C. and New Jersey. Attending dignitaries have included Pope John Paul II, President and Mrs. George Bush, President Bill Clinton, Secretary of Defense William S. Cohen, and Maryland Governors William Donald Schaeffer and Parris N. Glendening. The United States Naval Academy Band is proud to represent the Navy and Naval Academy and to help instill a feeling of patriotism in the hearts of Americans everywhere.
