WIND QUINTET
The United States Naval Academy Band's Wind Quintet is led by Chief Musician Adam Tillett on French horn and is made up of members from the U.S. Naval Academy Band's Concert Band. Other members of the quintet are Musician First Class Erin Heere, flute; Musician First Class Lynda Dembowski, clarinet; Chief Musician Sergio Dacol, bassoon; and Musician First Class Emily Madsen on oboe. Established in 1959, the quintet quickly evolved into a musical unit that is in demand both as an entertainment and educational group. A vital part of the Naval Academy Band, The Wind Quintet performs a wide range of concerts and clinics in elementary schools, colleges and universities, music camps, libraries, and the local community. Here at the Academy the quintet performs for receptions hosted by the Superintendent as well as openings and exhibitions at the Naval Academy Museum. One of its most memorable performances was for a meeting of the Organization of American States and was subsequently aired on "The Voice of America." The quintet's repertoire ranges from classics by Haydn, Mozart, and Beethoven to the modern compositions of Milhaud, Nielsen, and Hindemith with a special emphasis on works by American composers.
