SALARY - Member is guaranteed assignment to the United States Naval Academy Band in Annapolis, MD after successful completion of 8 weeks of basic training with appointment to pay grade E-6.  Annual starting salary is $46,338 - $52,126.  All members are required to adhere to Navy Physical Fitness Standards.

BENEFITS - Members receive full military benefits, including 30 days annual vacation, no time lost for illness, medical care for members and dependents, free dental care for members, dental insurance for dependents, commissary and exchange privileges, low-cost group life insurance, clothing, food, and housing allowances, tuition assistance, student loan repayment program or enlistment bonus when available and the Montgomery GI Bill. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 34 and a minimum 4-year enlistment is required. The Naval Academy Band is one of two premiere Navy Bands offering permanent-duty assignment and is located in beautiful Annapolis, Maryland.

AUDITION PROCESS - Submit a recent resume and photograph.  For positions that require a recording, please submit a high-quality recording, CD preferred, with excerpts of various styles that demonstrate your musical ability.  Applicants selected from screening of recordings will be invited for a personal interview and audition.

Active duty musicians from all branches of the U.S. military must also send a letter from their commanding officer granting them permission to audition for the Naval Academy Band. Audition materials will not be returned to the candidate. All travel arrangements and expenses are the responsibility of the candidate.

Auditions generally begin at 9:00 a.m. Candidates will be informed of any potential time changes well in advance. The registration desk will be open from 7:45 a.m. until 8:30 a.m.; applicants are urged to check in by 8:20 a.m. No specific audition times will be assigned; musicians will be heard in the order in which they appear and are registered. The audition committee reserves the right to dismiss any candidate not meeting the highest professional standards.
