Director's Note
Greetings from beautiful Annapolis! I am well into my second year as Director, and it has been a wonderful experience. Aside from working with some of the finest musicians in the country, being part of the team on the “yard” has been a primer on the history and heritage of our great service.
The U.S. Naval Academy is not just a university. It is a national monument, the Navy’s flagship educational institution, an internationally recognized center of excellence, and a place where honor, courage and commitment are a way of life. The Midshipmen represent the best and brightest of our nation. They are the future leaders of our Navy and nation, and many will make the ultimate sacrifice. It is an honor beyond words to support them as they uphold and pass on the time-honored traditions of this great institution.
As Navy Musicians, we are keepers of tradition, and when necessary, guardians. We are storytellers – through music – telling stories of past and present heroes. We are a reflection of the Academy and the Navy to the public, sometimes their only contact with our service. We strive to embrace this huge responsibility in everything we do.
I hope you enjoy looking through our web site, and we hope to see you at a performance. On Worden Field, the Annapolis City Dock, and throughout the region, we are proud to serve as the Navy’s “Oldest and Finest,” the U.S. Naval Academy Band.
