1104. Mission. Per reference (b), the primary mission of the Naval Academy Band is to provide musical support for official functions of the Superintendent, and the Commandant of Midshipmen, and to support the Brigade of Midshipmen by performing at appropriate functions involving the Brigade. Per reference (a), Band services are also available to activities within the geographical area as Naval Academy operational commitments permit.

1105. Tasks in Support of Assigned Mission.

a. Perform to its fullest potential in support of official functions, ceremonies, and other events where performances will enhance morale and esprit de corps of the Brigade of Midshipmen; support pride and professionalism, and retention within the Naval service; and represent the Department of the Navy and the Naval Academy in a musical capacity promoting community relations and enhancing the Navy image.

b. Maintain a professional military musical organization to include:

(1) military marching band
(2) ceremonial band/bands
(3) concert band
(4) contemporary music ensemble
(5) other units as required

c. Provide musical services in the following areas:

(1) Official functions of the Superintendent and the Commandant of Midshipmen.
(2) Events supporting the Brigade of Midshipmen such as parades, athletic events, ceremonies and concerts.
(3) Military ceremonies, ceremonies incident to patriotic occasions, and official affairs attended by Government and Department of the Navy officers in their official capacities.
(4) Special events and musical programs in support of Navy recruiting and retention efforts.
(5) Public concerts in the civilian domain.
(6) Official social activities conducted for active duty military personnel and their guests.
