PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT THE UNITED STATES NAVAL ACADEMY BAND Mission Statement The United States Naval Academy Band, under the direction
of Lieutenant Commander Mike Alverson, USN, has offered to provide expertise
and assistance to the instrumental music teachers and students in the
Anne Arundel County School System. The purpose of this partnership is
to foster mutual growth by encouraging students and the instrumental music
program to embrace the state of the art by providing instructional assistance
and unique musical opportunities and to increase community awareness of
the mission and presence of the United States Naval Academy Band. Activities
toward these ends include but are not limited to the following: - Members
of the United States Naval Academy (USNA) Band will be available, as military
duties permit, to attend school band rehearsals to assist teachers in
preparing their ensembles for performance. - Members of the USNA Band
will be available to give performances, clinics, and group lessons for
students on like instruments. - Members of the USNA Band will be available
to provide information to interested students regarding career opportunities
in military music. - Exceptionally talented students will be invited to
participate in the annual "Side by Side" concert, and the annual solo
competition where students will have the opportunity to play with an ensemble
of professional military musicians. - Students and teachers will be offered
the opportunity to attend concerts and performances given by various ensembles
assembled by the USNA Band.
