IT452 Final Exam Topics

The exam will be closed-book, open-notes.

Topics. Not an exhaustive list, but things you should know about.

• The exam is cumulative -- so see the topic lists from the 6 week exam and 12 week exam. Expect to write some code, and to again have to do something with XSLT.
• Search engines. How do they work? What influences ranking? What is SEO and what techniques are used?
• Mashups. Where can the data come from? Wha makes it interesting? How to use Google maps?
• Web-based collaboration. What can be done without programming yourself?
• Web servers. How is apache configured? How to setup password control and what are the pros and cons of this on apache? What is redirection vs. rewriting and how to configure? What makes a good vs. bad URL
• Ethics (this WILL be asked about): what issues arise with storing document on remote servers? Advantages? Weaknesses? Legal issues?
