Kvaternik, a former Austrian officer and Pavelic’s main
supporter in Croatia.
The slogan:
Bog i Hrvati—Za Dom Spremni
God and the Croats—Ready for the Homeland!”
Exiled Ustashe, mostly in Italy, head back to Croatia, led
by Dr. Ante Pavelić, who had been exiled after the 1934
assassination of King Aleksandar
Germans compel Maček, successor to the assassinated
Radic, to give authority over the Peasants’ Party to the
Ustashe.
