SM314 policy statement
Doing homework (HW) on a daily basis is an important part of the course. Students will be asked to put assigned problems on the board at the beginning of class. Also you should check your email frequently- at least once a day- because i will use the email system to send messages that will be of importance to you.
If you miss a class for any reason, you are still held responsible for what went on in class. In particular it is your responsibility to find out what has been done and what has been assigned in class. If any HW or anything else was collected while you were absent, it is your responsibility to hand it in the very next time you come to class-or else you will be penalized that work. Moreover, this policy also means that if any quizzes, full period tests, etc., fall on the first day on which you return from your absence, then you are still responsible for taking them then.
Please note that during Acad. Res. periods exams take precedence over watch and most other things. So it is your responsibility to rearrange your schedule if you have a conflict. It is also your responsibility to keep your old tests, HW's, quizzes, etc., and to check the computation of your grades.
Midshipmen should have the following items in their possession in class at all times: textbook, notes, pen or pencil, paper, math tables, and a calculator which works.
I will be available upon request. please do not wait until you are hopelessly lost before you see me. Also your courtesy in informing me of your inability to make a scheduled, if known in advance, will be greatly appreciated. In particular please send me an email message as soon as you find out that you can't make a scheduled - so that i don't make a trip to work (USNA) for nothing.
