channel during the 14 hours of daylight and avoid searching during the 10 hours
of darkness.
Given:
(i) the inverse cube law holds,
(ii) a probability of detection of at least 80% is required,
(iii) the target speed (u) is 30 knots,
(iv) the search speed (v) is 150 knots,
(v) the sensor sweep width (W) is 30 nm, and
(vi) the channel width (D) is 300 nm.
