Assigned homework will be due weekly. Late homework will not
be accepted without an excuse (such as SIR or MO).
Several computer projects using the free computer algebra system
SAGE will be assigned throughout the semester.
- The class will go ``to the board'' to do problems as often as
possible to practice on problems to be handed out in class.
This may be graded.
-
We will also have quizzes and tests as often as possible,
ideally every few weeks. Inform me in advance if you will be missing a
test due to a MO or are SIR. The tests will be as in the syllabus, or as
close as possible. Make-ups will be allowed for a test if
you have a MO or are excused SIR. If you miss the scheduled make-up you will get a 0.
Make-ups for quizzes are not necessary. All make-ups must be completed
before the last day of classes.
No calculators will be allowed on test 1 nor on the corresponding portion of
the final exam.
- No extra credit assignments will be accepted after the close of
business on the last meeting day of the class.
- Grading formulas:
final grade = (.30)F + (.325)T + (.20)Q + (.15)H + (.025)CP
and
period grade = [(.325)T + (.2)Q + (.15)H + (.025)CP]/(.7).
By the end of this course, the student should know
the topics in the
course objective.
