Inverse conjugacies and reversing symmetry groups.

Abstract: The centralizer of of an element a of a group G

C(a) = { x in G | ax=xa } and the set B(a) = { x in G | ax=xa^-1 } are of importance in dynamical systems theory, where a represents the time evolution of some dynamical system. Motivated by some results from dynamical systems theory, we study the abstract group theoretic properties of these sets, starting with the observation that B(a) union C(a) is a group.
