The Top Differences between the University of
California at Berkeley (Cal)
and the United States Naval Academy (Navy)
- A
“military demonstration” means quite different activities at each school!
Birkenstocks are sold at the
Navy student store, but not at the Cal student store.
At Navy an Anchor is a big piece
of metal. At Cal it is a beer.
When class starts at Navy the
students stand up. At Cal they wake up.
Everyone at Navy gets a
scholarship and a job.
Navy sends students to Cal to
get doctorates. Cal sends doctorates to Navy to teach.
According to experts, Navy has
the nicest grass (lawn) in the country. According to other experts, you can
get the best grass at Cal.
To get something done at Cal you
need to find the person who knows the person who knows what to do. At Navy
you need to find the instruction that references the instruction that
describes what to do.
Students at both schools frequently march, however
after marching at Navy you get liberty. After marching at Cal you post bail.
More Peace Corps volunteers have come from Cal than
any other school. More Marine Corps officers have come from Navy than any
other school.
The Top Similarities between Cal and Navy
- The school colors are Blue and
Gold.
- The students’ intelligence. (On
a naval architecture final exam I gave at both schools the average score was
exactly the same!)
- How hard it is to get in!
They are both next to "The Bay".
The graduates’ success.
You go to Bancroft to catch up
on sleep.
Short hair is in.
