Welcome to the introductory course in the materials used by naval
architects and ocean engineers! In your career as a sea service officer you
will often trust your life to the materials we will study, and you may be
tasked with designing, approving or purchasing components with them. At the
very least, you will need to interact with repair parties who may not know
