MGT--Marine Geophysics Trainer

This program teaches the basics of plate tectonics using three data sets covering a single area. The data sets include bathymetry and elevation, magnetic anomalies, and gravity anomalies. Additional data can be overlaid on these maps, including radar altimeter measurements of the geoid and the locations of earthquakes and volcanoes.

• Download the MICRODEM Program.
• Downloaddata files for the three regions (ALE, ICE, and ORE).  Execute the installation program; which will   place them in the "c:\mapdata\mgt" directory.  This installation includes radar altimeter data for two of the regions (ALE, and ICE). 
• Run the program on your computer. Use the MGT choice on your start menu, or the first time you should set Options, Menu to MGT, and then save the defaults so it will come up in the MGT configuration by default.

Note the MGT is really a specialized set of menus for the MICRODEM program which manipulates digital map and satellite data. You can download additional data to use those capabilities of the program. Professor Peter Guth of the Oceanography Department at the Naval Academy developed the MICRODEM program.
