Netscape and File Downloads

By default Netscape does not handle Windows Help files very well (it displays garbage in the browser), or dBase DBF files (it downloads the file but selectively removes fields). From the viewpoint of the PC market, this is a bug, but Netscape might argue that they should not worry about the standards of the 95% of the world that uses Windows.

1.    Upgrade to Internet Explorer. It can handle Windows Help files intelligently without special effort, or dBase DBF files. Go to www.microsoft.com

2.    In Netscape, right click on the link to the help file. Then you will have a menu which includes a choice to "Save As" on your hard disk. You want the help file on your hard disk anyway for later reference, or the dBase file so you can use it in a GIS or database program.
