WASHINGTON, D.C.
COMING
FROM THE SOUTH:
Travel to Washington DC. Take I-495 (the beltway around DC) headed towards
Baltimore. Exit off on to Route 50 West.
COMING FROM THE NORTH:
Travel to Washington DC. I-95 merges into I-495 (the beltway around DC). Follow
95/495 to Route 50 West exit. Exit onto Route 50 West.
FROM ROUTE 50 WEST:
Route 50 West will turn into New York Avenue in DC. Continue on New York in
middle lane.
At the intersection of I-395 and New York Avenue, the middle lane either goes
straight (to stay on New York) or merges left for the I-395 entrance. Do NOT get on
I-395. Stay on New York Ave and follow the sign for 50/Downtown.
Lane will continue straight for about 100 yards and then start curving to the right,
picking up another lane to the left. Stay in the middle lane and curve to the right. At
this
point, to stay on New York Ave you would have to go to the left lane and keep going
straight. You do NOT want to do this since Route 50 now diverges from New York
Ave.
You will go through 3 stoplights on this road and will travel about 1/4 to 1/2
mile. After the first light, move into the left hand lane. Turn left on 9th St (it is a
one
way). Take 9th Street down until you hit Constitution - big street. Turn right on
Constitution (it is a one way).
Stay on Constitution for about a mile and turn right on Virginia Ave (it is right after
17th Street). Stay on Virginia. Virginia ends at the intersection of Rock Creek
Parkway. Cross Rock Creek Parkway and enter the parking lot for the Thompson
Boat Center.
Quick Directions:
95 to 495/95
Exit on to 50 West
Continue on 50/New York Ave into city
Follow middle lane and curve to the right after the 395 entrance (do NOT take 395)
This will no longer be New York Ave - you will be on for approx. 1/4 - 1/2 mile.
Take left at 9th St.
Take right at Constitution Ave
Take right at Virginia Ave - right after 17th St.
Stay on Virginia. Dead ends at Rock Creek Parkway. Cross Rock Creek and enter
parking lot.
