USNA | Editor's note

The inspiration this year was the continuum of truth and lies, and their importance in our lives.  The Academy has an honor code, and the military is based on truth, accuracy, and trust.  Yet authors such as Tim O’Brien have shown us that not all true stories actually happened, but they contain truth nonetheless.  Karl Marlantes, writer of this year’s introduction and author of Matterhorn, considers the role that the “truth” and falsified information played in the Vietnam War. In this edition, pieces tell the truth, tell a truth, make the reader wonder, and reveal the little lies we tell every day.  Thank you to the amazing Midshipmen who contributed to this year's Labyrinth, and we hope you enjoy reading their work.
