October Calling

October called yesterday afternoon
she spoke of the rain, the leaves and the moon
her breath of winter coming on too soon.
While a hush'd fog crept through the naked trees
treed in, yearning for freedom like the seas
reaching for the coast and a pulling breeze.
Overnight the leaves all shot down like stars
wrapping the wailing wind between leaf bars
stretching leafy straits 'cross this land of ours. |
