Current vessel construction in the shipbuilding industry requires a large force with components of highly skilled labor, along with greatly specialized equipment. Utilizing the current and near future technologies in the fields of on-demand manufacturing, this research intends to determine the feasibility of using such techniques and technologies in order to provide lower costs, faster production times, and more optimized vessel structures.
