Candidate Visit Weekend (CVW) is a program conducted aboard USNA during the Fall and Spring academic semesters to expose candidates to all facets of life as a Midshipmen.

CVW is an opportunity to sample university-level academics at USNA, to discover whether the Naval Academy will help you achieve your goals, and to offer valuable insight into the admissions process.

CVW is offered by invitation only throughout the academic year.

Please explore this website, as it contains everything that you would need to know for your trip.

Transportation & Arrival

You must provide your own transportation to and from the Naval Academy.

If you are flying, the closest airport is Baltimore-Washington International (BWI).  For information regarding shuttle service to the Academy, visit , and click on "To & From BWI".  SUPER SHUTTLE provides shuttle service to Annapolis area hotels and the Naval Academy, and can be reached at (800) 258-3826 or .  The shuttle normally leaves BWI hourly and stops at Gate One of the Naval Academy.

If you are driving, and the driver is a member of the military, you can drive onto the Yard with a valid military ID.  If not, you must present a printed copy of your confirmation e-mail with a valid photo ID to drive on to the Naval Academy for drop-off and pick-up.  Driving access is only valid at Gate Six for the following times of your visit:

  • Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.

You may also access USNA by walking through the Visitors Access Center at Gate One.  Please make sure you have a valid photo ID with you at all times during your visit.  Directions to Annapolis are located at the following webpage:

Please plan to arrive at Mitscher Auditorium at USNA no later than 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. We recommend you eat dinner prior to arrival as the next formal meal to be served is breakfast. You will stay in Bancroft Hall with your midshipman host on Thursday and Friday night.

Parking near USNA can be challenging. There are paid parking garages and street parking within walking distance.   Additional parking options are available at the City of Annapolis Website: .

Parking and bus transportation for Parents attending the briefings on Friday will be available at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Busses to Mitscher Auditorium will depart from the parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Parents should enter the stadium at Gate 5 (511 Taylor Ave.) and advise the parking attendee that you are guests of the USNA Candidate Visit Weekend.

Check-In will begin in Mitscher Auditorium at 5:00 pm. Please do not arrive any earlier, as doors will not open until this time.
